Iddid Djura was an exhibition by Sarah George held at the CSIRO (I think?)
The exhibition space was really small and the photographs were all really cluttered.
There was too many photos for the space that they were shown in.
The thing that came from this exhibition that everyone remembered was the mounting!
Now the fact that we have it in our minds that white mounts are the best to go with was proven in this exhibiton. The mounting was horrible. There was a range of coloured mounts including red, navy blue etc. Some of the coloured mounts worked okay with the photographs but as a whole they did not match at all.
The photographs themeselves were pretty interesting. The photographer had photographed an Aboriginal community and it worked quite effectively. The portrait style photographs worked really well and were quite effective.
Something i will say though, is work with the space you're given. The curator had packed more photographs in the space than required and the exhibition probably would have been more effective if there were less photographs in it. Less is more in this case.
