The Woodbury Type Process is an interesting one that has been described as mash and gravy.
If you spread mash out on to a plate of some description and use a fork to make a certain imagewith different levels of thickness and deepness then pour gravy on top you are left with a type of Woodbury image.
The parts of the mash where the indents are deeper will go a deeper colour and the more shallow areas will be lighter. You are left with a picture of different shades of brown.
The Woodbury type typically uses a machine that does carving to a chosen material.
The idea was formed by a photographer called Walter Woodbury, hence the name.
